What Is Reiki Energy Healing?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-just-above) practice that began in Japan in the early twentieth century. The word itself points to the idea of universal life energy, and a Reiki session is designed to help you settle, soften, and rest. There is no deep pressure, no kneading of muscles, and no manipulation of joints. Instead, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or slightly above the body in a series of restful positions.
I want to be clear and honest about what Reiki is and isn't. Reiki is a complementary relaxation and wellness practice. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any disease, and it is never a substitute for medical care. What it does offer is a quiet, grounding space where the nervous system can shift out of "go, go, go" mode and into genuine rest. For many people, that shift is exactly what's missing from a busy week.
At European Therapeutics in Delray Beach, I offer Reiki as part of a Full-Body Relaxation with Reiki Energy Healing session. Some clients come specifically for Reiki on its own; others ask me to blend it into a gentle relaxation massage so they get the soothing touch of bodywork alongside the stillness of energy work.
Key Benefits of Reiki
People come to Reiki for different reasons, but the threads that run through almost every session are calm, ease, and a sense of being cared for. Commonly reported benefits include:
- Deep relaxation: a chance to fully let go in a quiet, unhurried setting
- Stress relief: a gentle way to step back from the pressures of a demanding schedule
- Emotional balance: many clients describe feeling more centered and at peace afterward
- Better rest: a calmer nervous system often makes it easier to wind down and sleep
- A sense of grounding: time set aside purely for your own wellbeing
- Comfort during difficult seasons: a soothing, supportive experience when life feels heavy
These are wellness and relaxation benefits. Reiki is not a medical treatment, and I will always encourage you to keep working with your doctor for any health concern. Think of Reiki as a complement to the rest of your self-care, not a replacement for it.
Who Is Reiki For?
One of the things I love about Reiki is how welcoming it is. Because it's so gentle, it suits people who might find a firm massage too intense, and it's a wonderful option when you simply need to rest. You may especially appreciate Reiki if you:
- Feel run-down, wired, or overwhelmed and want a calm reset
- Carry a lot of day-to-day stress or anxiety and crave a peaceful hour
- Prefer light, gentle touch rather than deep pressure
- Are curious about energy work and want to experience it with an experienced guide
- Are navigating a tiring or emotionally heavy stretch of life
- Live with sensitivities, such as fibromyalgia, where lighter, soothing approaches feel best
Clients travel from Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, and across Palm Beach County for a quiet, restorative experience. Whether you're brand new to Reiki or have enjoyed it for years, you're welcome here.
What to Expect During a Reiki Session
Your session at European Therapeutics in Delray Beach begins with a short, friendly conversation. I'll ask what drew you to Reiki and how you're feeling, so I can tailor the time to what you need most. If we're blending Reiki into a relaxation massage, we'll talk through that too.
For the session itself, you stay fully clothed (unless we're combining Reiki with massage, in which case you'll undress to your comfort level and stay covered with a sheet at all times). You'll rest on a padded massage table in a warm, quiet room, often with soft music and dimmed lighting.
I then move through a series of gentle hand positions, resting my hands lightly on or just above areas like the head, shoulders, and torso. There's nothing you need to do. Most people simply close their eyes and breathe. Some drift into a light, dreamy state; others feel warmth, a pleasant heaviness, or a quiet sense of calm spreading through the body. Every experience is valid, and there's no "right" way to feel.
A typical Reiki session lasts about 60 minutes. By the end, many clients describe feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, and more settled. I always leave a little time afterward for you to come back to the room slowly and have a sip of water.
Carmen's Approach
I'm Carmen Graves, a Licensed Massage Therapist and certified Reiki Master with 27 years in bodywork. Over those years I've learned that healing isn't only about working hard on the muscles. Sometimes the most powerful thing I can offer is stillness, presence, and a truly restful hour.
My approach to Reiki is unhurried and intuitive. I pay close attention to how you're responding and let the session unfold at a pace that feels right for you. Because I'm also a massage therapist, I can gently blend Reiki with relaxation massage when that's what you're after, giving you the comfort of soothing touch alongside the calm of energy work.
I hold Reiki with honesty and care. I won't make promises about curing anything, because that's not what this practice is. What I will offer is a safe, gentle, judgment-free space to relax, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
My studio is located inside Choice Wellness Suites at 1690 S Congress Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33445, easy to reach for clients throughout Palm Beach County. If you're ready for a peaceful, restorative experience, I'd love to share Reiki with you. You can reach me at (561) 809-1046.
